Research Education Advancement Programme (REAP)

One of the objectives of BASE is to prepare students to pursue careers in science. The REAP programme has been started towards achieving this objective.

It has been started in association with Indian Institute of Astrophysics, National Centre for Biological Sciences and Raman Research Institute. Here B.Sc., students of physics and biology stream attend classes during weekends through the year. Sessions consist of theory classes, -problem solving, practicals and assignments. Classes are moderated by practicing scientists from various research institutes.

Selected students are involved in research projects being carried out in the above institutions and are exposed to research techniques.

By the time these students complete their undergraduate courses, they will have been involved in two live projects. This exposure prepared these students for a career in science.

These programmes have given excellent results. Over a period of six years over 3 5 students have joined Ph.D., programmes in Indian and Foreign Institutes.

  1. Raman Research Institute, Bangalore

  2. Indian Institute of Science.

  3. Bangalore Wild Life Research Institute, Dehradun

  4. Michigan State University, USA

  5. Oxford University, Oxford, UK

  6. Delft Institute, Holland

  7. Texas A&M University,

  8. State University New York, Buffalo

Our students have received awards like the Rajiv Gandhi award given by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, for excellent science project, the Rhodes Scholarship etc.,
