Summer Course for College Students      


This is a two-week long programme for college students. This is aimed at motivating PUC and B.Sc., students towards research both in Physical and Life Sciences. Lectures for these courses are given by scientists from research institutes. The lectures introduce the students to fundamental ideas and frontier areas of research in various fields. Special lectures by medical practitioners about relevance of physics and biology to medical science also are scheduled. This programme commences on 20th May and ends on 30th May. Number of participants is limited to 40. Fee Rs.400/- per head.

Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium, Bengaluru, announces a special event on this Zero Shadow Day which is happening in Bangalore, on April 24, 2015 between 12:00Noon and 12:30pm and also arranged a colourful poster exhibition entitled SUN EXHIBITION for the public. Some of the models which illustrates Zero Shadow Day Phenomenon are also being displayed. Interested public can make use of this rare opportunity and visit Planetarium on April 24, 2015.

Sky Watch Programme      

Sky Watch Programme on 11.04.2015 between 6.30 pm and 8.30 pm. The available objects like, clusters, planets, etc. will be shown through the different telescopes provided the sky is clear. Entry is free.

TELESCOPE MAKING WORKSHOP for general public and students is organised from May 13, 2015. Participants will grind a 200mm dia mirror, assemble and collimate a Newtonian telescope. The workshop will be for a duration of fifteen days. The workshop will have theory sessions in astronomy, using of Newtonian telescopes etc. Interested may contact office.
